Rotten Lemons was birthed out of its own “rotten” situation. It was a moment of reflection after posting a thought on social media that suggested I go to the hospital just to take a break and be served Jell-O!

This humorous—yet true—statement revealed to me several things. The first thing that it revealed was the massive amount of support that I have. Many people began to say, “I’m here if you need help." It had not dawned on me how many people (whether I wanted them to or not) were actually there to offer support if I needed it. The next thing I noticed was how big a community of moms there was that could relate to what I was feeling. This led me to my greatest reality: that I am not alone. Moms, we are not alone.

A Safe Space to Thrive and Share Experiences!

OUR MISSION

Rotten Lemons, LLC is a community-based maternal mental health organization created to address the lack of accessible support and resources for mothers. Our mission is to provide safe, non-judgmental spaces where women can share their experiences, find support, and transform negative perspectives of motherhood into positive ones. We aim to empower women by offering resources and encouragement to navigate the challenges of motherhood, before they reach a state of crisis.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to be a leading community support network for mothers in Monroe, NC, and beyond, providing events and programs that improve mental, emotional, and social wellness for women navigating the challenges in all stages of motherhood, before the state of crisis.

“Rotten Lemons” is a play on the phrase “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. It is meant to remove facade of mother hood, and address the tough challenges—not our children—that we face the most during our motherhood journey. Motherhood does hand you lemons, LOTS of them— but its perspective that can make all the difference. In the Rotten Lemons community, we focus on fostering a supportive space where mothers can share their challenges, uplift each other, and shift their mindset to turn negative moments into positive growth. You’ve got this!
